Course enrollment

Starting with the winter semester 2024/25, the registration for courses will be implemented through the LSF.

The advantage for you is that you will personally assign courses to modules of your study program, and the specific course titles (not just abstract module names) will appear in your transcripts. Furthermore, instructors will receive a list of all students registered for their courses and will have the opportunity to reach out via email to inform you about any cancellations or rescheduling on short notice. Additionally, this will greatly simplify the grade recording process.

It's important for you to know that this registration has no legal consequences; you can correct your choices afterwards.

Now your cooperation is required. This is very simple, still please read at least the paragraph in bold face below! Please log in to the LSF at https://lsf.verwaltung.uni-muenchen.de/ and select "Register/Unregister for Courses" from the menu on the left side.

Now you will see a list of all the programs you are enrolled in...

and select the appropriate one. You will then need to agree.screenshot---2

You will see a list of all modules (mandatory and elective) that are part of your program.screenshot---4

Here, for example, we will select "Numerik" This will open and show both the lecture and the exercise. Generally, you only need to register for the lecture (the only exceptions are Analysis 1 and 2 (Single Variable Analysis and Topology, and Multivariable Analysis) and Linear Algebra 1 and 2, where the exercises are separate modules with their own exams, the homework. In these cases, please also register for the exercises). By clicking the "belegen" button,

you will land on a page where you can select the specific courses for the module with priority and request a spot. For most modules, one module corresponds to one lecture. However, there are also so-called "placeholder modules" where multiple alternatives for courses are available under a generic name. Here, you can only register for one. Please note that the same course may be listed under multiple modules. This way, you can also include several of these courses. All these choices can still be corrected afterwards.

It's important that the assignment to modules is only possible through this method. The LSF also has the course catalog, and there is also a button for registering for courses there. If you register through the course catalog, the LSF won't know that you want to use that course for a specific module! If you have already registered through the course catalog, please delete that registration and register again through the module list of your program.

Registration for courses is possible until October 31. After that, you can only unregister. If you want to register for courses after that, please contact the respective instructors with your student ID.

Later, we will also inform you about registration for the corresponding exams.

If you encounter any technical difficulties while registering for courses, please program coordinator Robert Helling (helling@lmu.de). For content-related questions about course selection and specific courses, please reach out directly to the respective instructors and the academic advising service responsible for your program, which you can find at https://www.mathematik.uni-muenchen.de/studium/fachstudium/studienberatung/index.html.
